I recently had the pleasure of staying at Zum Riesen, the oldest hotel in Germany, and I must say, it far surpassed my already high expectations. The historic building, dating back to 1411, was impeccably furnished with pictures and knickknacks from centuries ago, providing a truly immersive Bavarian experience. What truly amazed me was the seamless blend of history and modern comforts, with amenities like free Wi-Fi in rooms and a flat-screen TV adding convenience without compromising authenticity. The heating in the room was perfectly regulated, ensuring a cozy stay even during chilly Bavarian nights. The proximity to local attractions and markets was unbeatable, with Brauerei Keller and Die Altstadtbar just steps away, offering a taste of true Bavarian hospitality. The festive atmosphere during the Christmas market and the 10-day festival was a delightful bonus, immersing us in lively traditional music and dances.The breakfast spread was a highlight, featuring a delicious selection of cold cuts, bread, and cheeses, served in the charming breakfast room on the 4th level. The staff, with their warmth and attentiveness, truly made us feel at home. Zum Riesen not only offers a unique glimpse into history but also excels in providing a comfortable and memorable stay, making it a top choice for experiencing Bavarian charm at its finest.
